OVERVIEW

Department of the Library science and information is the heart of any learning institutions. The department of Library Science came into existence with the inception of the college, in the academic session 1988-89. Earlier, it was run in a rented building with limited number of books made available for the courses taught in the college. Mr. V.A. Dakhole was the first Librarian appointed in the year 1995-96. He was transferred to the other institution of the society and was replaced by Dr. Anil Chikate. After transferring Dr. Chikate, Mr. S.D. Raibole has taken over the charge as Librarian in the academic year 2011-12 and continued to serve till date.

Mr. S.D. Raibole is a NET qualified regular Librarian working hard for the development of the library of the institution. He acquired his Ph.D. degree in the same discipline, in the year 2018. He also completed his M. Phil while serving as a librarian. At present, the library department is having more than six thousand reference and text books on various topics of the subjects that have been regularly taught in the institution. The library is having a spacious hall for keeping books and journals and also the space for reading to the students and the staff of the college. The library has atomization facility with the complete records of books and journals kept in the software. Besides, the books and journals on various subjects of science stream, the library also provides literature for competitive examination, in the form of periodicals, year books and the books of national interest.

The department of Library science have organized book exhibition, guidance and counseling for the competitive examination, guest lectures on various topics of national interest and on the burning issues, disaster management, and personality development. The department have also conducted general knowledge examination for the college students. The students of the college are always motivated to acquire higher education and also given primary information on various skill oriented courses. The department has initiated a self finance certificate course entitled “Library and Information Science” with a intake capacity of 30 students. The department is honored to mention that it has successfully completed the first batch of students with 100% results in the final examination.

The librarian Dr. S. D. Raibole is actively engaged in research and co-curricular activities. Till date, he has published 09 research papers in the peer reviewed national and international journals. He has also authored two books, as a sole author, on library and information science. He attended various conferences/seminars and workshops. Dr. Raibole is also working as NSS coordinator since 2012 for the college unit of 100 students. He has been appointed as a area coordinator by RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, for coordinating various NSS activities. He also coordinator of Continuing Learning & Extension Department since 2013 till date
