Introduction

The Department of Chemistry, Science College Pauni, Dist. Bhandara has been established since inception of the college from 1987. The department has well developed renovated laboratory facilities equipped with required instruments for conducting practicals and research work. The teaching faculties of the department have important role in the functioning of department, extension work and promotion of research in the field of chemical sciences.

The faculties of department are recognized supervisors for Ph.D. and M.Phil. The students can do their research work under the guidance of faculties of the department in collaboration with other recognized centres of R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. Five students have awarded M.Phil. degree and one Ph.D. from this department.

The department has received grants of Rs. 10 lac from UGC under the head of Career Oriented Course for undergraduate student entitled “Formulation of daily need products and their applications”. The department has completed one Minor Research Project (MRP) worth Rs. 75,000/- entitled “Removal of Metal Ions from Solution Using Bark Substrate” funded by UGC.

The department has conducted One UGC Sponsored State Level Seminar on “Metal Pollution” in 2008. Also recently the department has organized UGC Sponsored National Conference on “Impact of Human Action on Environment” in 2015. During the year 2018-19 the department has organized one day workshop on “Green Chemistry and Plastic Pollution”.

The department conducts various activities throughout the year such as Guest Lectures and Seminars from prominent personalities of the respective field. Also conducts student’s seminar to develop ideas, personalities and scientific temper amongst the students.
